Voo

A visual exploration of movement and openness, Voo means flight in Portuguese, and serves as a reminder of the ephemeral, flightiness of life—its simultaneously finite and infinite nature.

Composed of biskuit porcelain ‘birds’ suspended on black carbon rods, fitted with small porcelain spheres, hand painted in real gold glaze, Voo is custom made to fit its intended placement.

This sensual light object composed of delicate porcelain sheets, suspended in space amid a series of vertical lines, can be adapted to meet the requirements of various rooms to create a special highlight in any suitable setting.

THIN CUT is composed of forty thin, hand-moulded porcelain sheets hanging still like an untouched stack of file cards suspended in mid-air. The light filters through the lamellar spaces in a rhythmical sequence of shadow and light.

Daylight

Simulating an opening in the wall with a view of the surrounding landscape, DAYLIGHT is composed of a porcelain relief, lit from the back by an LED panel. The motif LANDSCAPE shows a meditative image of gently undulating hills or sand dunes, the motif SKY is a photo-realistic cloudscape.

The standard suspension is made from white coated aluminum, where the sheet slips into the frame from the side, allowing you to see the edge of the fine porcelain while letting out a small strip of light.

Reminiscent of planets weightlessly circulating in space and time, the atmospheric celestial bodies that make up TROU’s big sister, TROU2 are composed of large porcelain bulbs resting on an anthracite coated rod and base, or hung from a black fabric coated cable.

Blast

A seating object for both in and outdoor use, BLAST plays on the evocative associations of the shape of a cushion. The shell is composed of frost-resistant, high-quality glazed ceramic sections, with a removable, weather-proof coated PU-foam cushion in the centre. Also available in laminated fiberglass.

Typography as an illuminating decorative element: the light-figures of the XY-series add timeless emphasis to the room and seem unostentatiously airy in spite of their powerful presence.

The pendant XY are hanging perpendicular at metal wires, the table lamps rest on flat, anthracite-coloured metal bases.

Stairwell for Gibbins Architects

Leaves, hanging on 25 stainless steel rods, from a white coated aluminum canopy adorns the stairwell of the architecture office of ‘Gibbins Architekten BDA’ in old villa in Hamburg.

The 8 meter long installation features 4 built-in LED spots and 4 pendant LEDs.

Installation of VOO and LEAVES for the one year long annual exhibition, Radical Craft at Direktorenhaus.

The exhibition presents 60 designers and artistic craftworkers, who show how important artistic craft is today in creating future designs for society. It shows how contemporary product design escapes this spiral by drawing on its origins: on the experimental forerunners in conceptual art and in radical artistic craft.

In-Time Stairway

Stairway for InTime

Our installation for InTime in Buchholz, Hamburg follows the entire centre axis of their spiral stairway. Thirty-seven eigth-meter long stainless steel rods, holding approximately one-hundred porcelain leaves are lit by eight recessed 15W LED spots and four pendant LED spots from four meters.

Designed with a sustainable approach and appreciation for functional aesthetics, InTime’s logistics building stands out from the typical grey industrial building landscape, with its modern architecture and flattering silhouette.

With the aim of finding the perfect lighting for his new headquarters, company owner Christoph Gienow visited the Light + Building 2018 trade fair in Frankfurt. He chose an extra long version of Leaves to adorn their massive spiral staircase. Three Thincut were chosen to illuminate the conference table and create a visual continuity between the stairwell and conference room.

Hotel Reception

Leaves goes super-size: A total of 700 stainless steel rods, 350 porcelain leaves and 70 LED spots make up our newest installation for the Hotel Motel One Frankfurt – Römer.

Located directly on the Büchergasse (Book Ally) in the Old Town of Frankfurt, the architecture and design of the hotel thematically references the long history of the Frankfurt Book Fair. Responding to this concept with a massive version of our Leaves light object, a cluster of porcelain sheets, simulating book pages, frozen and floating in space, establishes an ethereal atmosphere around the lobby area.

This project was executed in collaboration with Architect Barbara Wild / Motel One.
